The transformation

An older pole barn, rebuilt as a finished shop.

The renovation strengthens the building, improves protection from Western Washington weather and gives the exterior a clean, intentional finish. Black standing seam roofing, white vertical metal siding, a contrasting lower wainscot and natural wood details now work together as one design.

A more complete, useful shop

New exterior finishes, wider overhangs and a rebuilt covered area give the building a much more finished presence.

What changed

The renovation improves the building from the framing out.

Better protection from the weather

Roof framing improvements, new roof sheathing, two-foot overhangs, finished soffits and carefully finished transitions help protect the shop as a complete exterior system.

A clean, durable exterior

Black standing seam roofing, white metal siding, a contrasting lower wainscot and coordinated trim sharpen the building without making it feel overdesigned.

More useful covered space

The rebuilt 42-by-10-foot lean-to maintains clearance at the shop doors while adding a finished ceiling, wider overhangs and timber-style exterior details.

The next phase

A new RV bay designed to look original.

The planned 42-by-20-foot addition will provide 16-foot walls and a 14-by-14-foot overhead opening for tall, wide covered storage. Matching roofing, siding, wainscot, overhangs, doors and windows will tie the addition to the renovated shop instead of making it look tacked on later.
